Instrumentet, Johan Scott
Johan Scott, born 1953 in Mariehamn, Åland Islands, currently lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. After graduating from the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm in 1981, Scott went on to received the internationally acclaimed P.S.1 scholarship in 1983. Shortly thereafter Scott won the Finans Scandic prize in 1984, whereupon Scott's career flourished, leading him to win the Estrand Foundation prize, Lagerqvist & Partners Art prize and the Ars Fennica prize between 1992–1997. Scott also held solo exhibitions and participated in group show throughout Europe, in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Portugal, France and Hungary. In 1998 Scott joined the Royal University College of Fine Arts as a professor of painting, later becoming prorector. Scott left his post at the Royal University in in 2008. In 2002 Scott was admitted into the prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Sweden.
